From Data Dump to Change Agent — How the Digital Product Passport Can Actually Change Consumer Behavior
The Digital Product Passport promises transparency — but transparency doesn’t change behavior. Based on a study with 1,000+ users, this talk shows how service design can turn the DPP into a system that actually shifts how people buy, use, and keep products.
Three key takeaways:
1. From information to intervention: Why transparency alone fails — and how service design turns product data into actionable moments that influence behavior.
2. Lifecycle thinking in practice: Concrete UX patterns that activate the DPP across purchase, use, repair, and reuse — not as isolated touchpoints, but as a coherent system.
3. Designing for real people, not ideal users: Insights from +1,000 user tests showing where consumers disengage, resist, or reinterpret sustainability signals — and what that means for effective design.
The session equips practitioners with practical patterns, tested insights, and a reframing of the DPP as a behavioral infrastructure — not a repository of product data.
