The Conference Venue

Paasitorni

This year, our in-person attendees will meet at Paasitorni, a waterside art nouveau heritage building on the edge of the Kallio neighbourhood. Known for its bohemian vibe and lively street life and cultural scene, Kallio is a popular area among students, artists, and young professionals. The area boasts a wide variety of bars, cafes, restaurants, and small shops, offering everything from vintage goods to contemporary Finnish design. We hope this will be where a meaningful spark can be ignited for the entire Service Design Network community.

Location & public transportation

Our conference venue Paasitorni is located right next to busy public transportation hub of Hakaniemi. Many bus and tram lines run through Hakaniemi, and there is a metro station as well. The Central Railway Station is roughly a kilometre away, a distance easily covered by tram or on foot. The Ring Rail Line will take you from Helsinki Airport to the Central Railway Station in about 30 minutes.

Side venue locations

More information on venues for our pre-opening event and closing party will be published soon.

Accommodation in Helsinki

Conveniently adjacent to the venue is our official conference hotel Scandic Paasi - please use code FIARB to book your room under a reduced rate and use the following link for reservation. All accommodation bookings should be done directly by attendees.

As we are located right in the Helsinki city centre, also with great public transportation access, there are also many accommodation options to choose from in the neighbourhoods close by.

Conference venue accessibility

Attendees with reduced mobility can enter the venue through the inner courtyard (automated doors) between the main entrance (Paasivuorenkatu 5A) and Hotel Scandic Paasi (5B). If necessary, the venue staff will be happy to help (Conference Services, tel. +358 9 7089 613). Paasitorni’s premises used for the conference are accessible for guests with reduced mobility. The building has two lifts. Paasitorni’s accessible restrooms are located on floor 0 (Sirkus), 2.5 (Congress Hall) and on floor 3.

Virtual venue

This year, the virtual Service Design Global Conference venue will be the RingCentral event platform (previously known as Hopin). More information on the virtual venue and experience coming soon!
