Marijke Jorritsma is on a mission to push the boundaries of design, bringing it to new frontiers. As a Design Manager and Product Strategist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, she has played a pivotal role in finding new ways to use Service Design to transform how we build and operate spacecraft. Currently, she’s working on an incubator designed to accelerate partnership-driven exploration concepts and a digital transformation effort aimed at reconfiguring the way we design spacecraft.

While NASA JPL is renowned for pioneering robotic space exploration, it faces significant challenges when it comes to transforming its own internal systems. This talk explores how Service Design is helping lead a digital transformation within JPL’s Systems Engineering division by using a user-centered, bottom-up approach to drive change in a culture that prioritizes mission success above all else.
